Manager/Accounting & Financial Reporting

Basic Purpose

This position has the following responsibilities: Managing monthly closing activities which include the preparation and oversight of the Global US GAAP consolidated financial statements, SEC and or AICPA disclosures, general ledger account analysis, researching accounting guidance, aiding in the compilation, publishing of specified internal management reports, and providing support in relation to communications with our independent public accounting firm. The position will also include oversight of corporate sales accounting, corporate billing, treasury accounting, other corporate general accounting, corporate cash application functions, oversight over certain aspects of the US payroll processes, and reconciliations of the general ledger.  This position will be responsible for coordinating multiple assignments in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Management and preparation of consolidated financial statements (actual/budget/forecast).
  2. Management and preparation of disclosures for SEC/AICPA reporting compliance.
  3. Assist, as needed, in preparation of various reports for senior management or corporate-wide distribution.
  4. Responsible for research on complex accounting issues facing the corporation as assigned and providing guidance and recommendations on acceptable treatment/handling of issues.
  5. Responsible for performing certain month end tasks, such as analytic preparation, trial balance analysis, and other various analysis. General ledger account reconciliation process oversight responsibilities.
  6. Assist in documentation of internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance as it relates to primary controls in the functional area being managed.
  7. Assist in annual/quarterly budget/forecast preparation as it relates to Global and Regional SG&A/R&D managed within North America and non-operational entities controlled through the Corporate Accounting department.
  8. Assist with lease accounting for the Corporation as a whole.
  9. Preparation & posting of some journal entries – as necessary.
  10. Responsible for upkeep of mapping for new accounts/account hierarchy requests as it relates to ERP systems from a financial reporting perspective.
  11. Assist in the oversight of Global Pension/OPEB accounting with third party actuarial firm.
  12. Oversee process of any statutory reporting to US GAAP adjustments on a consolidated basis.
  13. Manage/track the Global Bank Adjustments and how they relate to debt agreements/covenants.
  14. Oversight/review of sales and cash application journals, monthly accruals, rebate journals, monthly allocations of corporate charges, and accounting for portions of debt.
  15. Oversee the infrastructure and operations of the general ledger and work with IT for any maintenance or updates.
  16. Oversee certain aspects of US payroll processes, receivables and payables, assuring timely recognition of transactions including reserves and accruals This includes establishing and maintaining proper credit limits.

 

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance related field.
  • Overall 8+ years’ experience in accounting/finance field with focus on SEC or bank compliance reporting for a company; Experience with bank compliance reporting requirements within a privately held company is a plus; Financial disclosure/footnote preparation experience preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the public accounting field, CPA designation required.
  • 3 to 5 years in a Corporate Accounting related position/setting preferred.
  • Extensive experience with external auditor interaction.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP; excellent analytical & technical accounting skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, for internal and external communications.
  • Excellent personal computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Broad-based understanding of the organization’s business process cycles and information needs.
  • Preferred experience with process flow management and ability to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in performing complex assignments, with an ability to interface effectively with a broad range of internal and external customers with proven success working in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in external reporting software; Workday Financials experience is a plus.
  • Energetic, creative, and self-motivated, with a proactive mindset geared toward driving results.
