Machining Operator

Primary Function: Primarily responsible for the production, product flow and quality of product 
through the CNC machining lines.

Tools and Equipment: CNC machining lines (mills, lathes, pre-stress & Rosler equipment), Eddy 
Current testers conventional inspection tools/gauges, coolant systems, computerized workstations, 
robots, teach pendants, overhead hoists, fork trucks, skids, pallets, plastic bases/lids, hand 
tools, valve stems, cleaning equipment and other equipment and materials necessary for the 
performance of the job.

Materials Handled: Aluminum forgings, machined wheels and other materials as assigned.

Working Procedures:
1. Performs all work in a manner that conforms to safety and environmental policies of the Company.
2. Adheres to all ISO and IATF quality standards and procedures.
3. Operates and adjusts operations of robots as required in the machining process.
4. Completes minor adjustments to machines, e.g., roll stamp and Eddy Current tester.
5. Performs SPC charting and dimensional inspections using handheld measuring devices, with 100% 
visual inspection of wheels produced.
6. Maintains all machinery lubrication levels and greases where required and otherwise performs 
tasks to assure preventative maintenance schedules are met.
7. Assists or performs training of other personnel on job duties as directed by Supervisor.
8. Responsible for overall quality of product through the Machine Line Area.
9. Operates fork trucks as required.
10. Maintains documentation associated with production, preventive maintenance and quality.
11. Keeps the cell areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
12. Installs valve stems as needed.
13. Operates roll stamping equipment as needed.
14. Performs packaging duties and requirements as necessary.
15. Steam cleans any and all equipment when necessary.
16. Operates and maintains machine tools in cells.
17. Assists maintenance employees in Machine Line Area as directed by Supervisor.
18. Performs tool and insert replacement as required.
19. Performs changeovers, setups, and assists in prototyping.
20. Performs incidental maintenance on equipment in the cell.
21. Performs Basic G Code programming and makes minor edits and offsets as directed by Supervisor 
or technical resources.
22. Creates and maintains production records, SPC charts, delay sheets, and/or other information required.
23. Utilizes available SPC data to ensure compliance to manufactured specifications and to identify 
processing problems, notifies Supervisor and advises team when acceptance criteria are not being met.
24. Assists maintenance employees in Machine Line Area as directed by Supervisor.
25. Identifies any P.M. work that may be needed and fills out appropriate paperwork.
26. Verifies setup of new product quality and machine functionality by operating equipment to 
produce wheels for ‘first piece’ inspection.
27. Monitors the Intersource chip systems and trailers, sets operation of diverter gates, and 
reports operation status and issues to Supervisor.
28. Performs other duties conducive to assuring optimum productivity within the Plant as the need 
arises, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
