Logistics Specialist
Basic Purpose
This position has the following responsibilities: direct, manage, and coordinate activities related to all customer routed shipments across all Accuride facilities. Ensure all carriers (shipping & receiving) meet Accuride’s pick-up and delivery schedules for all facilities. Develop plans and programs to ensure carrier distribution excellence. Work with all customers’ 3PLs, websites, and logistics planners to ensure customer carrier compliance. Track all carrier compliance and monthly report out. Maintain updated customer routings and websites/portals in Plex along with customer service. Work with C H Robison, Accuride’s 3PL, on Accuride routed shipments to ensure timely pickup, delivery, and tracking when necessary. Oversee and manage the delivery of international ocean containers which includes the customs clearance process and ensuring supplier documentation accuracy. Process vendor invoices and work with the AP Department to coordinate timely payments.
Principal Accountabilities
- Maintain communication with plants on customer collect carrier routings.
- Update Plex with accurate customer collect carrier routings.
- Communicate with plants on pickup status and follow up with late carriers for inbound and outbound (late, no shows).
- Drive OTD.
- Daily communications with CH Robinson, Accuride’s 3PL - i.e., LTL meeting, daily issues.
- Manage UPS workflow.
- Log into customer portals and work with customer 3PLs and logistics planners to schedule all customer collect routed shipments.
- Work with planners on shortages to cover shipments.
- Escalate issues as necessary for problem parts.
- Customer focused & all CRD/MADD metrics within scope.
- Answer inbound questions regarding parts expeditiously & or escalate accordingly.
- Calculate linear footage as required.
- Manage overseas aluminum wheel shipments with suppliers and logistics providers including tracking until delivery.
- Process vendor invoices with the assistance of the AP Department.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- Computer skills-intermediate (Word/Excel)
- 2-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Business; 4-year degree preferred.
- 2 + years’ logistics experience
- Working knowledge of ERP, TMS, and shipment tracking
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work and communicate with all levels of company staff, 3PLs, and trucking companies
